WE HAVE BIG PLANS
FOR SMALL COMMUNITIES
15th INTERNATIONAL
ARMENIA FUND
TELETHON 2012
This year’s Armenia Fund Thanksgiving Day Telethon is dedicated to “Our Village”. Armenia Fund USA has rallied behind it with its four-sector strategy for success.
Infrastructure: The work begins with building structures and systems that promote public safety and support sustainable growth. Be it roads, water systems, electricity grids, earthquake proofing or Internet access, an up-to-date, reliable infrastructure is key to making the Armenian village a good place to live, work and raise a family.
Education: Rural students must have the tools and resources to compete in a global economy. So, in addition to quality school facilities that meet public safety standards, they also need new classroom furnishings and ample school supplies, plus computers equipped with updated software applications and high-speed Internet access.
Health Care Delivery: A healthy community is a strong community. Providing easy access to safe, best-practices health care is critical to rural families, especially for emergency medicine, in which access to a fully equipped pre-hospital ambulance is paramount. Quality maternity, stroke, cardiac and trauma care are also top priority. This goal can best be achieved through health care hubs, polyclinics and regional hospitals, complemented by innovations like satellite-driven telemedicine. Training medical specialists is also on the checklist, so that families are confident that they are in good hands.
Community Life: The Armenian village should be a lifelong home base, a warm and welcoming place built on strong community ties and cherished memories. That is why expanding community centers, forming trade associations and farming cooperatives can give villagers a real sense of belonging. At the same time, boosting economic growth with quick-start projects like the popular Cash Cow program is on the agenda for progress.
Please give generously and early during this season of giving.
